Memory of the Sun
Memory of the Sun is a novella set in a strange world, populated by strange peoples. It chronicles the events, triumphs, and tragedies that beset a group of unlikely companions as they follow the path to the road’s end, for a purpose they do not know or understand.
This is a story that touches on many themes that have always resonated with me: sorrow, loss, redemption. It isn’t complete yet, and is being posted as I write it. I have high hopes.
As I try my hand at the shorter fiction formats, I realize how much more difficult it is to flesh out characters with depth and resonance when there is a word limit looming over one’s head. I’ve decided not to worry too much about the length of the work, and I think, so far it’s working well: A good balance between a shorter, more accessible work, and enough meat to satisfy people like myself that enjoy characters almost as much as stories.
On a final note, it must be said that the character Mashal Angranosti has been influenced heavily by someone I used to know. Players of Shadows of Isildur may recognize him.
